This research examines how the EU’s Global Gateway strategy - particularly its focus on critical raw materials—interacts with conflict dynamics in fragile African contexts. Using the Lobito Corridor as a case study, it highlights key risks around governance, transparency, and local inclusion, and argues that without robust conflict-sensitive approaches, large-scale infrastructure investments may exacerbate instability rather than support sustainable development.
